I bought this and plug the cord into the computer and voila! Why do I only give it 4 stars though? Because I'm on my 3rd external drive as the other ones eventually stop working or wear down for some reason. Too bad, I am a fan of LG products and would normally not be swayed by a negative review or two regarding their products but next time I'll think twice before purchasing their product. Unfortunately I am outside of Amazon's return window so I'll have to chalk this one up to lesson learned. This has happened with multiple dvd's of varying condition and the result is identical each time. The drive opens and accepts the disc but once the disc is inserted I hear the disc spin up and hesitate, spin up and hesitate, in rapid succession until ultimately it stops and ejects the disc. No tech support, no warranty claims via manufacturer.Īlthough I purchased this unit in June of and have had it for two months I have only used it three times and it looks like the third time was the charm. If a disk came with it, I do not remember it. I have also heard that you have to have LG Software that comes on a disk to install it. I have heard that Windows already has the drivers for this Multi Drive. If it requires software, can I download it from your website somewhere? You should try using the recommended media: Hopefully this resolves the issue. Please avoid using Memorex discs as well, because these are not compatible with our LG drives. Only do this if you have the error code detailed above. You should also verify that drivers are installed. The LG drive can be used with basically any playback or burning software.
